Ober and Out

“Ken Ober, host of the '80s game show Remote Control has died at 52, his representative confirmed.”

While not the greatest television figure of all time, Ober was one of the most important, as host of the first ever non-music show on MTV. Had it failed, MTV might still be playing nothing but music videos today. However, the show was wildly successful, so much so that the network added non-music show after non-music show after non-music show, until finally it morphed into the network it is today.

In other words, Ober was the unwitting sire of Speidi, so even the current generation that never knew him should mourn his loss.

Here’s my previous blogs about my appearance on Remote Control back in its heyday… RIP, Ken.
